Wild Weed Walk for Sunday in Toronto - Postponed!, August 7, 2011

Wild Weed Walk for Sunday in Toronto - Postponed!
It looks like light rain but with no respite until the afternoon. If it were intermittent showers, I'd go ahead with the herb walk, but 2 hours of rain isn't so fun. I'm going to reschedule the Wild Weed Walk for a later date, if possible...

Wild Weed Herbal and Medicinal Plant Walk, August 2, 2011 , posted by Jennie Akse , jennieakse@gmail.com

Wild Weed Herb Walks at High Park

Cost: Payment required - 5.00 Canadian Dollars

We\'ll gather at a convenient location in High Park (see wildweedwalks.posterous.com), where you\'ll meet up with other wild weeders and head out to discover the amazing edible plants and medicinal herbs growing wild in this area.

We'll identify, taste and share information about how these plants can be harvested and used for food and/or medicine.

In case of light rain, we'll meet as planned, and then be on our way. If there's a downpour, we'll postpone the walk, and I'll contact everyone by email. Feel free to bring your camera and notebook to record your many discoveries!

Cost: 5 dollars

The Walk is typically 2 hours, but participants are invited to stay longer for further exploration, for additional questions-and-answers or simply to continue enjoying the outdoors with like-minded folk.

Just show up, or even better, let me know you are coming: jennieakse@gmail.com

Walk for World Peace, April 20, 2011 , posted by Kelsang Rigden , admin@kadampa.ca

Kadampa Meditation Centre Canada is holding a Walk-For-World-Peace Fundraiser at High Park on Saturday, April 30th. High Park is particularly beautiful during the last week of April; all the cherry blossom trees are in full bloom!

This is a family affair so pack a lunch and bring your kids and dogs along. The money raised through sponsored participants (that's you!) will be put toward building temples like Kadampa Meditation Centre Centre (KMCC) around the world. These buildings are dedicated to world peace.

Pledge forms are available at the temple www.kadampa.ca or you can print them online to download the form. You can walk 2, 5, or 10km and there is no maximum amount of pledges needed to join.

We will meet at Picnic area #26 which is located very near to the High Park Blvd. entrance off Parkside Drive and the Queensway, this is close to the Jamie Bell Adventure Playground for the kids (and adults) and washrooms.

Pledge forms will be recorded and returned back to the walkers upon arrival. After the event, the walkers are to collect outstanding pledges and return their pledge sheets with the pledges to KMCC no later than May 15th, 2011. Please note: We will not be collecting the pledge money at the park.

Pack a lunch and we will finish with a picnic at 1pm.
